Interplanet Janet Adores Animated Explainer Videos

Who Doesn’t?

Please, please tell me you remember Schoolhouse Rock.

'“I’m just a bill, sittin’ on Capitol Hill.”

“Interjections! Wow! Interjections! Hey!”

“Conjunction Junction, what’s your function?”

“Interplanet Janet, she’s a galaxy girl.”

I didn’t cheat and look these up; I remember these episodes and others. They are taking up valuable space in my brain. This is space I could be using to remember important things, like my Netflix password.

Schoolhouse Rock was revolutionary.

These little cartoons took subjects, like how a bill becomes a law, grammatical rules, or planetary exploration, and made them fun and interesting. Decades later, they are still stuck in my head.

This is why your business needs an animated explainer video.

Schoolhouse Rock was the predecessor to today’s modern explainer videos. Even though their target market was children, they:

  • Took a complex topic and made it easy to understand.
  • Used animation, music, and voiceover to engage and captivate their audience.
  • Educated people quickly, painlessly and memorably.

That’s what good explainer videos do for your business.

And if you feel like you’ve been hearing a lot about explainer videos lately, it’s because they work really well.

  1. They teach better. They can increase the understanding of products or services by 74%.
  2. They rank better. A video is 50X more likely to reach Google’s first results page than text.
  3. They sell better. Customers are 85% more likely to buy after watching an explainer video.

Explainer videos are also ideal for today’s shortened attention span. Most consumers make a purchasing decision in less than a minute. They need to get your info and get it quickly.

A video is the fastest way to convey information and is easier for people to remember since it involves both sight and sound.

Also, don’t underestimate the power of search. If you Google “How a Bill Becomes a Law”, the Schoolhouse Rock video still comes up in the first few results even though it debuted in 1976!
